Jodhpur, Ranakpur and Mount Abu

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival in Jodhpur & Evening Sightseeing Tour

Upon arrival at Jodhpur Airport or Railway Station, we will pick you up and transfer you to your hotel. After a short refreshment, begin your evening sightseeing tour of the Blue City.

Mehrangarh Fort
Local Markets & Evening Lights
icon
Mehrangarh Fort

Perched dramatically 120 metres above the city on a sheer sandstone cliff, Mehrangarh is one of India's largest and most imposing forts. Its towering walls, elaborately decorated royal palaces, intricate jali-screened windows, and a world-class museum of Rajput armour, royal palanquins, and miniature paintings make it Jodhpur's crown jewel. The fort is equally stunning after dark when it is illuminated against the night sky.

icon
Local Markets & Evening Lights

As the evening unfolds, wander through the narrow lanes of Jodhpur's old city below the fort. The blue-painted havelis glow warmly under street lamps, while the Clock Tower area buzzes with vendors selling Rajasthani spices, traditional jewellery, and street food. The atmosphere after dusk is truly magical.

Day 2 Full-Day Exploration of Jodhpur City

After breakfast, proceed to visit the following places:

Umaid Bhawan Palace Museum
Jaswant Thada
Clock Tower & Sardar Market
Vintage Car Museum
icon
Umaid Bhawan Palace Museum

One of the world's largest private residences, Umaid Bhawan Palace is simultaneously a royal home, a luxury heritage hotel, and a fascinating museum. The museum wing presents rare royal artefacts, vintage photographs, Art Deco interiors, ceremonial regalia, and trophy collections that illuminate the grandeur of Jodhpur's Rathore dynasty.

icon
Jaswant Thada

Lovingly called the Taj Mahal of Marwar, this pristine white marble cenotaph was built in 1899 in memory of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II. The translucent marble panels cast a soft, luminous glow in afternoon sunlight, and the peaceful garden setting with Mehrangarh Fort as a dramatic backdrop makes it one of Jodhpur's most photogenic spots.

icon
Clock Tower & Sardar Market

The iconic Ghanta Ghar (Clock Tower) anchors the lively Sardar Market – old Jodhpur's vibrant commercial heart. Wander through a labyrinth of stalls overflowing with aromatic Rajasthani spice blends, dry fruits, handcrafted silver jewellery, Jodhpuri leather jootis, and vivid tie-dye textiles. An unmissable sensory experience.

icon
Vintage Car Museum

Housed within the Umaid Bhawan Palace complex, this collection showcases the royal fleet of the Jodhpur rulers – from gleaming Rolls-Royces and Bentleys to classic Mercedes and vintage military jeeps. Each vehicle carries a story of royal travel, ceremonial parades, and an era of princely opulence that still captivates visitors today.

Day 3 Jodhpur to Mount Abu via Ranakpur

Enjoy breakfast, check out, and begin your journey to Mount Abu, visiting the stunning Ranakpur Temples along the way.

Ranakpur Jain Temples
icon
Ranakpur Jain Temples

Set within a forested valley of the Aravalli Range, the Ranakpur Jain temple complex is considered one of the five most sacred pilgrimage sites in Jainism and one of the finest examples of temple architecture in all of India. The principal shrine, Chaturmukha Dharana Vihara, was constructed in the 15th century and is dedicated to Adinath, the first Tirthankara of Jainism. Its most astonishing feature is a forest of 1,444 intricately carved marble pillars – each one uniquely designed with no two pillars bearing identical carvings. The temple's multiple domes, ornamental toranas (arched gateways), and delicately latticed marble screens create an interplay of light and shadow that shifts beautifully throughout the day. The craftsmanship reflects five decades of dedicated work by skilled artisans and is a supreme achievement of medieval Indian stonework. Photography is permitted in most areas of the outer complex. Allow 1.5–2 hours. Dress modestly and remove footwear before entering. Continue the drive to Mount Abu and check in to your hotel by evening.

Upon arrival in Mount Abu by evening, check into the hotel and stay overnight in Mount Abu

Day 4 Full-Day Exploration of Mount Abu

After breakfast, explore the following places:

Dilwara Jain Temples
Peace Park
Nakki Lake
Sunset Point
Toad Rock
Guru Shikhar
Achalgarh Fort & Mahadev Temple
Brahma Kumaris Ashram
icon
Dilwara Jain Temples

Universally praised as one of the greatest achievements of marble craftsmanship in the world, the Dilwara Temples were constructed between the 11th and 13th centuries by Jain merchants and nobles. The Vimal Vasahi temple (dedicated to Adinath, built in 1031 CE) and the Luna Vasahi temple (dedicated to Neminath, built in 1231 CE) are the most celebrated. Their ceilings, pillars, and domes are covered in breathtaking filigree carvings of such delicacy that they appear almost like lace carved in stone. Photography inside the inner sanctums is not permitted, which encourages mindful, unhurried exploration of each carved surface.

icon
Peace Park

A beautifully landscaped hilltop garden maintained by the Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University, Peace Park is a quiet sanctuary of flowering plants, scenic terraces, and meditative walking paths. Set slightly above the town, it offers pleasant elevated views of the surrounding Aravalli hills and is a welcome retreat from the busier tourist areas.

icon
Nakki Lake

The social and spiritual heart of Mount Abu, Nakki Lake is a sacred freshwater lake nestled among forested hills. According to legend, it was carved out by the gods using their fingernails. Today, visitors enjoy paddleboating on its calm waters, strolling the picturesque lakeside promenade, and stopping at the small Raghunath Temple on its southern bank.

icon
Sunset Point

One of Mount Abu's most visited viewpoints, Sunset Point commands a wide panoramic view across the Aravalli valleys and plains below. As the sun descends, the sky transforms through vivid shades of orange, pink, and violet. The short uphill trail to the viewpoint passes through pleasant woodland and is a favourite evening walk for visitors and locals alike.

icon
Toad Rock

A striking natural rock formation near Nakki Lake that bears an unmistakable resemblance to a toad when viewed from the correct angle. Toad Rock is a short and enjoyable trek from the lakeside, rewarding visitors with lovely views over the lake and surrounding hills. The path also passes Trevor's Tank, a small reservoir known for its resident marsh crocodiles.

icon
Guru Shikhar

Standing at 1,722 metres above sea level, Guru Shikhar is the highest peak in the entire Aravalli Range and the loftiest point in Rajasthan. The summit is home to a small but revered temple dedicated to Lord Dattatreya, a composite deity embodying Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva. The drive up offers spectacular mountain scenery, and the panoramic views from the top stretch across several states on a clear day.

icon
Achalgarh Fort & Mahadev Temple

Perched high in the hills above Mount Abu, the Achalgarh Fort was originally built by the Paramara dynasty and later restored by Maharana Kumbha of Mewar in the 15th century. Within the fort complex stands the ancient Achaleshwar Mahadev Temple, one of the holiest Shiva shrines in Rajasthan. Its distinctive feature is a naturally formed Shivalinga worshipped as a divine footprint of Lord Shiva. A large stone Nandi bull and a scenic tank add to the spiritual character of the site.

icon
Brahma Kumaris Ashram

Mount Abu serves as the global headquarters of the Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University – an international organisation with over a million members worldwide dedicated to meditation, peace, and universal values. The main campus, known as Madhuban, welcomes visitors regardless of background for guided meditation sessions, an inspiring spiritual museum, and peaceful walks through the university grounds. Known for its serene atmosphere, the ashram is a place of quiet reflection, deep learning, and inner renewal.

Stay overnight in Mount Abu
